Children's Place posts beat, Facebook pulls security program, Sears closes more stores

Here’s a look at some of the companies the Yahoo Finance team will be watching for you today.

The Children’s Place (PLCE) posted a huge beat on Q2 earnings. Same-store sales rose 13% as more people went shopping at brick and mortar locations. The CEO says mall traffic was particularly high last quarter.

Facebook (FB) is pulling a data security program from Apple’s (AAPL) App store. Apple says the Onavo app didn’t comply with privacy rules. It lets users create a VPN to browse through a private server. But in the process, Facebook was able to track browsing trends. Facebook says it has been transparent with how it collects user data.

Sears (SHLD) says it will shutter 33 more sears locations and 13 Kmart stores this November. Liquidation sales will start as soon as next week. Sears says it’s part of the plan to transform the company and it’s not ruling out closing even more locations.

And get ready for a lot more original content on Google’s (GOOG) YouTube. The site’s top programmer says it plans to roll out 50 original shows next year. That includes a new scifi drama from the producers behind The Crown, a new comedy from actress Kirsten Dunst, and a host of documentary and reality tv shows.
