Chevrolet Revives Off-the-Rack 1LE Track Package for Camaro
This week at the Chicago Auto Show, Chevrolet officials announced the return of the 1LE track handling package for the 2017 Camaro, which will be available later this year. The package will enable Camaro drivers to test their road skills and the car’s mettle on public tracks of choice, such as Road Atlanta or Road America.
The new “track-ready” package features more technology for the SS Camaro and for the 1LT and 2LT Camaro Coupes equipped with a V-6 engine. Only available on Camaros with a manual transmission, the 1LE performance package features a satin black hood, unique trim, suede-covered steering wheel, special wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, more powerful Brembo brakes, plus stiffer suspension tuning.
For the Camaro LT equipped with a V-6 engine and 6-speed manual transmission, the 1LE track package includes FE3 suspension from the SS, with dampers, rear cradle mounts, ball-jointed rear toe links, and stabilizer bars. Also included are lightweight 20-in. wheels and Goodyear Eagle tires, a track-cooling package, and dual exhaust. A front splitter, black grille accents, and spoiler improve vehicle aerodynamics. Recaro performance seats are optional.
The Camaro SS 1LE, powered by a 455-horsepower V-8, has some additions: magnetic ride control and an electronic limited-slip differential, plus the new FE4 suspension. All major features in the package for the LT are standard plus forged aluminum wheels, Goodyear Eagle Super Car tires, and Recaro seats are standard.
In addition, Chevrolet will introduce an optional performance data recorder for the 1LE package that allows the driver to view and share a track-worthy experience. Package pricing has not been revealed, although a previous model’s version retailed in the $3,500 range.
