Chevrolet gets two new Beat derivatives at the Auto Expo

The compact sedan segment has got a couple of new entrants this Auto Expo making this very competitive segment more crowded than ever before. After German car maker Volkswagen revealed its compact sedan the Ameo, today it was turn of General motors which revealed a sub-4 meter derivate of its hatch, the Beat.

The compact sedan is called Beat Essentia and has been in the works for the last 3 years and it’s still some time before we see a production version of the car. However it is expected to run the same 1.0 litre 56 bhp diesel and 1.2 litre 77 bhp petrol engines that currently power the beat.

Chevrolet also unveiled a refreshed version of the Beat; called the Beat Activ it is the crossover version of the hatch. Once launched it is likely to be one of the most affordable cross hatches in the market. The engines will remain the same on the Activ as earlier.
