Cheryl has cancelled her BBC podcast owing to her continued grief following the death of Girls Aloud bandmate, Sarah Harding.

The singer took a break from work following the loss of her friend, who passed away after battling breast cancer at the age of 39 back in September.

Cheryl made the podcast titled 'You, Me & R&B' earlier this summer which was supposed to run for 12 episodes. However, the 'Fight For This Love' singer took to Instagram Stories earlier this week to tell fans that she had initially taken a break from recording the show to mourn Sarah and now feels "it's not right to revisit" the show.

"It was to be recorded around the same time as Sarah's passing. I took a break from everything then, including the series, and it just didn't feel right to revisit it again...

"Thank you again for all of your love and support these past couple months," the singer concluded.

In an Instagram post last month, Cheryl reflected on her memories with the late singer, to honour what would have been Sarah's 40th birthday.

She captioned the montage of Girls Aloud's performances, interviews and behind-the-scenes activities: "Memories may be all we're left with, but they’re enough to last a lifetime."

In August, Cheryl announced her plans for the podcast with details on what to expect from the show "transporting" people back to their youth and "reliving those moments with her".

It is unclear whether Cheryl will resume the BBC podcast at a much later date.
