Cheryl Burke wants to 'make amends' with former 'Dancing with the Stars' partner Ian Ziering

Professional dancer Cheryl Burke is apologizing for previous comments she made against her former "Dancing with the Stars" partner Ian Ziering.

During a Sunday episode of the "Pretty Messed Up" podcast, Burke said the one thing she regretted and wanted to make amends for was her previous comment toward the "90210" actor. The dancer recalled a time where she appeared on a podcast in 2016 and was asked who her favorite and least favorite celebrity partners were during the dance competition.

"I answered 'Ian Ziering' and I said something along the lines of 'I'd rather slit my wrists than dance with Ian Ziering again,' " Burke said.

Burke said she had "no excuse" and that she was "completely out of line" for her previous comments.

"I'm here to say sorry, I truly am so sorry for being so inconsiderate and just talking, trying to basically get a reaction and putting him as my punching bag," she added.

Burke and Ziering were partners during Season 4 of the competition, which aired in 2007. The duo made it to the top four before being eliminated.

"When somebody does 'Dancing with the Stars,' especially a celebrity, they are already going on the show being vulnerable," Burke said. "I was so nasty and I am here to publicly apologize to Ian and his family."

Burke said she knows her comments hurt him because of a conversation Ziering had with another "DWTS" pro Tony Dovolani, sharing how he felt about her comments.

"I lost a lot of respect for myself when I said that and it haunts me to this day." she added.

Burke and Backstreet Boys' AJ McLean, who were dance partners during Season 29 of "DWTS" and bonded over their sobriety journeys, host the "Pretty Messed Up" podcast.

"AJ also has influenced me in a positive way with him being sober and we can talk therapy talk,” Burke told Us Weekly in September. "We go pretty deep to where I almost sometimes feel like the producers, they’re probably like, ‘These people! Therapy 101!’ "
