Check out this less-frequented waterfall in Meghalaya

In a land of waterfalls, the Tyrshi Falls are popular largely among the locals.

Meghalaya is a land of waterfalls. In the monsoons, you can see hundreds of falls, at every other turn and around every other corner.

Some falls are more popular than the others. And these are most frequented by tourists. Tyrshi Falls in Jowai is not one of those falls. While it is getting to be popular, Tyrshi remains relatively hidden.

Jowai is 65 km from Shillong, but it will take you about two hours to reach by road. You can’t drive all the way to the falls. You’ll need to, walk a couple of kilometres downhill and past a paddy field before you see these falls.

The best time to visit is around September. That’s when the rains recede and the entire state turns green.

As does this valley that the falls overlook.
