Every year, a car or two takes the automotive community by complete surprise. Case in point:Bentley's truly unexpected EXP10 Speed 6 concept coupe.

And boy! Is it ever a pleasant surprise. Technical details for the stylish sports car were limited — although Bentley has hinted the car could be a performance hybrid. But mechanical details are not all that important. What is important about the EXP10 is the role it will play in the way Bentleys of the future are styled.

"EXP 10 Speed 6 is one vision for Bentley’s future – a powerful, exquisite and individual concept," Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer said. "The showcar has the potential to be the new pinnacle luxury two-seat sports car. It offers thrilling, driver-oriented performance, complete with trademark modern Bentley luxury and effortlessness."

The Bentley EXP10 Speed 6 made its world debut at the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show.

The Bentley EXP10 Speed 6 concept car could become a smaller brother to the brand's iconic Continental line.

The "Speed 6" name hints that the EXP 10 could ditch Bentley's obligatory W12 or V8 engines for V6 that could even be a hybrid.

With that said, the EXP10 still maintain Bentley's signature round headlights and matrix front grille.

Its side profile is as sleek as any Bentley we've ever seen. Its sports-coupe-like silhouette is reminiscent of an Aston Martin.

The car's lines culminate at the fastback rear hatch.

The EXP10's design is a perfect balance of hard lines and soft curves. And the British racing green is really the only color that's acceptable for this car.

Bentley used state-of-the-art 3D metal cutting technology to deliver some of the car's most beautiful details, such as ...

... these beautiful exhaust tips and ...

... the angular side vents.

These headlights! Wow!

Slip inside the cockpit and prepare to be impressed. The interior has been trimmed by the leather experts at Poltrona Frau.

The interior its classic elegance and yet futuristic. The infotainment system is centered by a 12-inch touchscreen, housed in an aluminum frame.

Keeping with the old-school sporting tradition, the EXP10 maintains an analog tachometer and shift lever — for those who wish to shift gears manually.

And what a beautiful shift lever it is! Finished in aluminum, copper, and cherry wood.

This mini-Bentley is a pure two-seater. There's no attempt to shoehorn a back seat here. Check out the maze of strengthening beams. Bentley really wants this thing to hustle around the corners.

The EXP10 Speed 6 is a bold vision for where Bentley want to go as a brand — and what it wants in a new sports car.
