If your cat won’t leave you be while WFH, get them this cat computer — ‘now I can work on my laptop’

While some cats love being the leader of the house, they tend to get clingy when computer work needs to be done. However, one TikTok user found a cat laptop to solve her dependent kitty problems. Funnily enough, it actually works.

“I read on the internet that cats get on your laptop because they’re mirroring you,” creator winifredandyara says in the video. “If you get them their own laptop, they will leave you alone, and look at this little businessman.”

Cats all up in your space have science to back up their behavior. According to animal behavioral consultant Amy Shoja, it’s because your laptop is the center of attention instead of your pet.

“The laptop is on your lap, which is prime kitty territory,” Shojai explained in an Inverse interview. “You stare at it constantly, and the cat would prefer you direct your attention to them, so it gets in between you and the screen.”

If you want your furball to shoo during work hours, shoppers of Uncommon Goods give this cat laptop that doubles as a scratch post 4.5 out of five stars. One customer explained that one of their family cats “instantly adopted it as his own.”

“Two of my sister’s cats couldn’t tell you much about this because the third instantly adopted it as his own and took over,” they said in the review. “He loved the mouse and dragged the whole thing around with him (away from other kitties trying to investigate). Brother-in-law appreciated the gift, reporting ‘now I can work on my laptop.'”

Another shopper who left five stars explained that what started as a gag gift for a family member became a must-have for cats.

“Funny thing is… it actually works!” they wrote. “Comments from my sister: ‘My cat made my laptop keyboard unusable by treating it as a scratching post and popping the keys out. I finally gave up and purchased a cheap wireless keyboard to use with it. My sister gave me this cardboard laptop as a gift, which my cat now loves! I wish I had known about this earlier, as my laptop would still be intact.'”

Don’t let your cat’s envy toss your workload to the side, and give them their own little business to run… from their computer.
