Canadian dollar weakens, benchmark yield slips

The Canadian dollar weakened against the greenback on Friday, and the yield on benchmark government debt slipped.

The loonie was trading 0.4% lower at C$1.3915 to the greenback, or 71.86 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.3859 to 1.3919.

Canadian government 10-year bond yields fell 1.9 basis points to 3.198%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt fell to 4.3238%.

U.S. December crude futures fell $1 to $71.36 a barrel on Friday.
