Yahoo Finance Canada Day fireworks: Celebrate the country's big day with a light show
Despite a wet and cloudy start to Canada Day, the rain should clear in time for fireworks, and there are a lot of places around the GTA to catch a show.
Here are some of the top spots:
Harbourfront Centre
A day of activities down by the waterfront will cap off with a fireworks display set to what the centre is calling "an inspiring national playlist."
The free show gets underway at 10:40 p.m. at 235 Queens Quay West.
Ashbridges Bay Park
One of the most popular fireworks displays is down at Ashbridges Bay and Woodbine Beach Park. It may not be the best beach day, but pack a picnic, chairs and some sweaters and settle in for the 10 p.m. show.
Consider public transit, as police expect heavy traffic delays.
1561 Lake Shore Blvd E.
Centennial Park
If you're in the west end, fireworks get underway at 10 p.m. at the Etobicoke park at 256 Centennial Park Rd.
Canada's Wonderland
Spend the day on the rides and then stick around for the light show at 10 p.m. It's free with park admission.
Organizers promise more than 6,000 "colourful explosions" set to music.
Mel Lastman Square
Face painting, musical acts and other family-friendly activities get underway at 5 p.m. ahead of fireworks at about 10:15 p.m.
5100 Yonge Street
Thomson Memorial Park
Kid-friendly activities, live entertainment and food trucks have been up and running since 10 a.m. today ahead of a Canada Day Parade at 4 p.m.
Fireworks follow at 10 p.m.
