Burnley vs Liverpool FC: Premier League prediction, TV channel, team news, live stream, h2h, odds today

Liverpool face another must-win fixture in the race for Champions League qualification as they take on Burnley tonight.

The Premier League champions had Alisson Becker to thank for rescuing their top four bid at the weekend as the goalkeeper scored a sensational 94th-minute header to earn a 2-1 win at West Brom.

That win put the pressure on Chelsea and Leicester City ahead of their Stamford Bridge clash on Tuesday, and a 2-1 win for Thomas Tuchel’s Blues means Liverpool will leapfrog the Foxes into fourth on goal difference should they win at Burnley.

Three points at Turf Moor means that when Liverpool face Crystal Palace on the final day, they will only have to match Leicester’s result against Spurs to ensure a top-four finish - but Jurgen Klopp’s Reds must hold up their end of the bargain first at Burnley.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Burnley vs Liverpool is scheduled for an 8:15pm BST kick-off today, May 19, 2021.

Burnley vs Liverpool team news

England goalkeeper Nick Pope could again be missing for Burnley. Pope sat out the 4-0 home defeat to Leeds on Saturday with a knee injury, and Sean Dyche said the 29-year-old is “touch and go” to return for the final home game of the season.

Dale Stephens and Phil Bardsley have both been ruled out following operations, joining Robbie Brady and Kevin Long on the list of players who will not return this term.

Burnley provisional squad: Pope, Peacock-Farrell, Norris, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Pieters, Taylor, Nartey, Dunne, Driscoll-Glennon, Gudmundsson, Brownhill, McNeil, Westwood, Cork, Richardson, Wood, Vydra, Rodriguez, Barnes.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain returns to Liverpool’s squad after missing Sunday’s dramatic win at West Brom due to illness.

Fellow midfielder James Milner resumed training on Tuesday and could come into contention for a place on the bench which contained four academy graduates at the Hawthorns.

Forward Diogo Jota has a small chance of being fit for the final game of the season at the weekend after a second scan on a foot injury revealed the problem was not as bad as first feared.

Liverpool provisional squad: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, Williams, Robertson, Fabinho, Thiago, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Salah, Firmino, Mane, Adrian, Kelleher, N Williams, Tsimikas, Koumetio, Clarkson, Milner, Jones, Shaqiri, Woodburn, Origi.

Burnley vs Liverpool prediction

A 4-0 home defeat to Leeds is not exactly the best way to prepare for the champions to visit Turf Moor, but Burnley have been up and down this season so that result shouldn’t have too much bearing on this game.

Liverpool showed real resolve to earn three points at West Brom, and expect the same here with Champions League football within their grasp.
