Is The Bugatti Vision GT Actually The Chiron In Race Disguise?

After recently driving the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, my sense of speed has changed. I’ve literally been ruined for the rest of my life. No other car will ever be able to change my perceptions so drastically as this car did. Except for the fact that Bugatti is still hard at work building the Veyron’s successor, the Chiron.

The new car will most likely feature over 1,500 horsepower, and be powered by something based on the current W16 motor however, it will now be assisted by electric turbos and a hybrid battery system. 0-62 miles per hour (100 km/h) is rumored to take just barely under 2 seconds flat, and our source within the company told us that if we thought the Veyron is fast, we’ll have our minds blown when we finally drive the new car. However, we still don’t know what the new car will really looks like. But now, maybe we do.

For the Frankfurt Auto Show, which is set to begin September 17th, Bugatti is bringing out the company’s all-new Vision GT Concept, built for the Playstation game Gran Turismo 6. The Bugatti Vision concept is said to take some styling cues from the company’s history at Le Mans back in the 1930s, but also take its newest creations to a whole other level of performance. Additionally, the racecar itself will be brought to life in a real world model that will be on display in Frankfurt.

Here’s the thing though, comparing the spy photographs that have been circling around the web of the new Bugatti Chiron, it seems that this Vision GT concepts shares quite a few styling similarities. For instance, take a look at the rear fascia of the two cars side-by-side.

From the pictures released by Bugatti, and the spy photo above, the rear fascias of the cars look almost identical. They both feature the same figure-eight style cutout with the only difference being the exhaust outlet on the Chiron seemingly being a bit lower on the car. This is likely due to the enhanced diffuser on the racecar.

Additionally, moving to the side of both cars, look at the arch that encompasses the rear part of the doorway. Again, it’s almost identical, with the only difference being the door itself is set further out on the Chiron. Moving to the front of the car, the Vision GT concept strays a bit further away from the spied Chiron, but not by much. With the difference being only the front diffuser is further dug in on the Vision GT than the Chiron. However, where the two are similar is that they both feature unique recessed headlights and what appears to be a much smaller grille than the outgoing Veyron.

As stated above, the Vision GT concept will debut in about two weeks time, however, we’ll have to wait until Geneva for the new Chiron to finally debut in production guise. However, we’re fairly confident that this Vision GT concept definitely takes more of its design cues from that car compared to the outgoing Veyron.
