The New York Times' hooked us all earlier this year with the release of their Framing Britney Spears documentary, which shone a light on the unrelenting media scrutiny the singer faced over the last two decades. But that was just the beginning, and over the weekend the follow-up documentary, Controlling Britney Spears, arrived on screens.

While the first documentary focussed on the events leading up to Britney's conservatorship, Controlling Britney Spears gave viewers an insight into what her life was like under the conservatorship. Viewers had plenty to say about the second half of the documentary, particularly the accusation that Britney's phone had been bugged and private conversations recorded.

Now, Britney has given her honest opinion on the documentary. Taking to her Instagram account, she told her 34.2 million followers: "It's really crazy guys ... I watched a little bit of the last documentary and I must say I scratched my head a couple of times."

She continued, "I really try to disassociate myself from the drama!!! Number one... that's the past!!! Number two... can the dialogue get any classier??? Number three... wow they used the most beautiful footage of me in the world!!! What can I say... the EFFORT on their part."

But some fans weren't convinced that Britney had written the post herself, and suggested that her Instagram account is being controlled by someone else. "THIS ISN’T BRITNEY!!!! GIVE HER INSTAGRAM BACK," said one Instagram user, while another fan wrote "Are we really supposed to believe this is Britney?"

Another fan commented "This isn’t Britney. Free her!!!!!" as someone else said "I don’t believe this is you." Many fans simply commented "#freebritney."
