IKEA serves breakfast in bed; Ice cream on the black market

Breakfast in bed at a furniture store? A California castle building a "community of excellence" for a certain personality type? And black market ice cream selling for $10,000 a gallon? Yes, folks, it's Friday and here is your weird business news.

Would you like some eggs with that Stuva? How about some pancakes with your Svarta? Well you're in luck. IKEA is opening a pop-up café in London that will serve customers breakfast in bed. Customers can "test rest" a single or double IKEA bed for a 45-minute period of time. The cafe will be open from 7 a.m. until noon and offer a traditional Swedish breakfast. After noon, customers can still try out the bed, but no meals will be served. If you're interested, hurry up - the cafe will be open only for a limited time from May 18 to 20.

Have an entrepreneurial mind? Looking for a room to rent in Silicon Valley? There's space in a mansion for just $1,000 dollars. It's called Startup Castle, and there's free food, a gym and even a pool table. Sounds great but here’s the catch: If you post on social media more than three times a week, drive a car your parents bought for you, have more than one tattoo, and don't work out at least 15 hours a week, you need not apply. Those are just a few of the requirements suggested in the "roommate wanted" ad for Startup Castle. The ad was posted on a Stanford message board earlier this week and has since gone viral. So has criticism of it.

And finally, some people are really passionate about their ice cream. Several listings for Blue Bell ice cream popped up on Craigslist this week with prices much higher than what supermarkets charge. Blue Bell recalled all of its products from stores on April 20 after they were linked to a listeria outbreak which sent 10 people to the hospital, killing three of them. According to ABC News, an unopened pint of Blue Bell's Krazy Kookie Dough was listed in an ad for $10,000. Another seller was looking to unload a half-eaten half-gallon of vanilla for $499. The post was later flagged and taken down.
