Brand new images may have just leaked of Samsung's next big-screen phone

Galaxy Note 5 rendering leak

New 3D renderings of the purported Galaxy Note 5 were leaked on Monday by @onleaks, who has a solid track record when it comes to leaking accurate rumors.

The Galaxy Note is Samsung's flagship "phablet" phone boasting a huge screen.

If the leaks are correct, the Note 5 looks like it takes several design cues from the Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung's curved smartphone.

But the curved edges appear on the phone's back rather than facing the user, which could offer a more comfortable grip. It's also a departure from Samsung's traditional design where the edges are relatively sharp compared with more rounded phones, like the LG G4.

Since the renderings are almost completely gray in color, little can be said about Samsung's choice of materials, and it's unclear if the Note 5 will have a similar removable textured plastic back as its predecessor, or if Samsung will use a similar glass back design as the Galaxy S6.

Considering that each new Galaxy and Galaxy Note device has been adopting each other's design cues, it's likely that the Note 5 could have a similar non-removable glass back as the Galaxy S6. That means the Note 5 may not feature a removable battery, which was one of the Galaxy line's much-loved features among Samsung fans.

A non-removable glass back may also mean that the Note 5 won't feature a micro SD port, which lets you add additional storage for files, photos, and media, and was also a popular feature among fans of Galaxy devices.

The renderings don't offer much detail about the Note 5's screen size, but if the last three Galaxy Note screens are anything to go by, we can expect a 5.7-inch screen.

Otherwise, renders of the supposed Note 5's bottom edge shows a port for a stylus, which has been a Galaxy Note staple feature since the very first model was released in 2012.

Some rumors emerged that the Note 5 may replace the standard micro USB for a USB-C port for charging and connecting to computers, but the renders clearly show a micro USB port.

Still, the leak is just a rendering, which can be less reliable than a photographic leak, as almost anyone can make a digital mockup of a phone and release it for the internet to consume.

Leaked images about a Galaxy S6 Plus with a 5.5 inch display have also emerged, which is somewhat odd considering it could compete with the Note 5 in the "phablet" category.

Most Galaxy Note devices have been announced in the Fall at the yearly IFA event in Berlin, which is when we expect the Note 5 to be announced. Check out the video below for different angles of the renderings:
