This Body Wash Just Broke Up My 10-Year Relationship With Butt Acne

Body acne was one of the many hairy, bumpy surprises that came with puberty for me. It showed up everywhere, from my legs, butt, and back to even my chest sometimes, too. Though I figured out some tricks to lessen it (see below!) over the years, nothing worked as well as Boscia's Papaya Pomegranate Enzyme Exfoliating Cleanser ($35, Ulta).

I've been using the newly-launched, vegan, cruelty-free cleanser for about two months, but it only took two uses to decrease my body acne and a week to completely erase it.

Before trying this, I never really gave my body wash a second thought. As seven-step skincare routines for my face slowly became a twice daily part of my routine over the past decade, the rest of my body came second place.

I'd use whatever was on sale at the grocery store, douse my body in oil after toweling off, and put on some thick body butter before bed. Other than the occasional cellulite-treating serum, that was about it.

Here's why I'll never stop using Boscia's body cleanser:

It's worth the price.

When it came to body washes, I always felt as though there were drugstore products that did the job for me in terms of cleansing and then luxury products on the other end of the spectrum that I couldn't afford to try. Little stood in the middle ground of being high quality, effective, and solution-driven without costing an arm and a leg.

Sure, $35 is more than I've ever spent on a body wash before, but if I don't hesitate to spend twice (or thrice) that amount on my face, why wouldn't I invest in the entire rest of my body?

It's also packed with ingredients like lactic and mandelic acid that work to prevent fine lines and wrinkles. As a medium skin-toned Indian woman, I'm genetically prone to hyperpigmentation, so I also appreciate that the acids also treat scarring that body acne can leave behind.

It's dry, sensitive skin-approved.

I've tried exfoliating cleansers before, and they usually consist of micro-beads that either irritate my sensitive skin or clog my drains. On the contrary, Boscia's totally smooth gel formula uses a combination of plant-based exfoliants like papaya and pomegranate to encourage resurfacing and to sweep away dead skin cells.

I also have really dry skin, so I appreciate that the formula doesn't dry me out like a lot of other cleansers can. It's packed with hydrating ingredients like jojoba as well as rosemary, grapefruit, and orange peel oil—which also contribute to the super refreshing smell.

I haven't gotten one body pimple since using it.

To be clear, I take other precautions like making sure to change out of my sweaty workout clothes as soon as possible and being mindful about choosing bras and underwear with breathable fabrics. While taking those steps did significantly decrease the amount of acne I was experiencing, I still always had at least a handful of spots on my body.

Since using this body wash, I haven't experienced one pimple anywhere on my body—now if only there were just as easy of a one-product solution for all of our problems.
