Bills releasing veteran OL Long: report

The Buffalo Bills are releasing veteran interior lineman Spencer Long, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday.

The news comes a day after the Bills signed veteran guard Brian Winters, who was released by the New York Jets on Sunday. The Bills lost right guard Jon Feliciano -- who started all 16 games in 2019 -- to a torn pectoral muscle last month.

Long, 29, joined the Bills on a three-year, $13 million contract in February 2019 after his own release from the Jets, for whom he started 13 games at center in 2018. Long played in 14 games for Buffalo, all as a reserve, last season.

Buffalo will save $2.4 million against the cap with Long's release.

A third-round pick out of Nebraska in 2014, Long spent his first four years with Washington, starting 31 of 40 games at left guard and center.

Winters, Evan Boehm and Daryl Williams are expected to compete to start at right guard for Buffalo.
