Best Companies To Work For 2017: Top Tech Companies, According To Glassdoor

Here’s a list of the top tech companies that made Glassdoor’s list.

Career website Glassdoor has released its annual report on the top places to work based on employees who anonymously submitted a company review on its website based on their compensation, experience, work environment and employer in the past year.

The tech industry dominated Glassdoor’s annual list of the best companies to work for this year, accounting for almost half of the top 50 spots. Apple and Google, along with Bain, are some of the employers to make the list for all nine consecutive years.

Airbnb was voted the best in the U.S. last year, but the startup dropped down to 35 in 2017. Airbnb’s rating fell from 4.6 to 4.2.

Facebook made the list for the seventh time and topped the tech category because employees bragged about their employer, especially in terms of compensation and benefits that make day to day life easier like transportation and free meals.

When it comes to areas for improvement at Facebook, Glassdoor reviews suggest the company could have a better work-life balance. Facebook employees rated work-life balance at their company around 3.8 compared to Google’s 4.1 rating in the category, on a scale from one to five.

Google may have a lower score than Facebook in terms of compensation and benefits with a rating of 4.4, but it’s a pretty close race.

Other areas where employees were asked to score their companies included: career opportunities, culture, senior leadership and values and if they’d recommend their employees to a friend.

Overall, 20 tech companies made Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work 2017 list for the U.S.
