Augustinus Bader's New Launches Are the Brand's Two Most-Requested Products

Augustinus Bader's The Cream is Nicholas Braun of skincare products. Like the weekly Cousin Greg sightings in downtown Manhattan submitted to DeuxMoi, it's everywhere. The unassuming anti-aging moisturizer has been endorsed by celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Sandra Oh, and Priyanka Chopra, celebrity makeup artists like Pati Dubroff and Hung Vanngo, and countless beauty editors, including myself.

Since launching in 2018, the patented skin-rejuvenating formula by Augustinus Bader, a German stem cell scientist with no background in the beauty industry has become a cult-favorite product simply through word of mouth. What makes the moisturizer (and The Rich Cream, its counterpart for dry skin) so special is the TFC8 complex, which kickstarts the body's stem cells to repair and renew, in addition to providing deep hydration. And the fact that the multitasking moisturizer is designed to replace all of the products in your skincare routine, aside from cleanser.

After The Cream and The Rich Cream became runaway hits, Bader slowly expanded his brand to offer the TFC8 complex in other categories like body cream, hand cream, lip balm, face oil, and cleanser. Now, the brand has launched its two most-requested products: face serum and eye cream.

The Serum is a fast-absorbing contentrate formulated to address a number of common skin concerns, including dehydration, environmental damage, signs of aging, and stress. Along with the TFC8 complex, the vegan formula has vitamin C, rice bran oil, pomegranate seed and edelweiss extracts, and resveratrol. In clinical trials conducted with 30 participants over two months, the formulation improved hydration 291% over baseline, and an 85% reduction in visible wrinkles.

The Eye Cream is lightweight, but deeply nourishing, promising to increase firmness and reduce the look of dark circles and puffiness. Along with the TFC8 Complex, the vegan formula includes peptides, niacinamide, vitamin C, and French seaweed, pennywort, and arjun tree extracts. The clinical trials for The Eye Cream also produced impressive results. Over a two-month period, the 30 subjects reported an improvement in overall radiance, skin tone evenness, firmness, and elasticity often 200% over baseline.

Both products are designed to be used with the brand's moisturizers, and come in a recyclable, refillable container that's worthy of a place on your vanity. The brand suggests repurposing the metal vessels as "elegant vases for flowers, or smart containers for makeup brushes, pens, and other everyday items." And like the rest of Augustinus Bader's products, these launches come with hefty prices. The Serum is $375 ($350 for the refill), while The Eye Cream is $215 ($195 for the refill).

So, are these two latest additions to Bader's brand worth it? In short, yes. Ahead of these products' launch, I hit pause on all of the products in my nighttime skincare routine, simply using cleanser, moisturizer, The Serum and The Eye Cream for the past week. While it's too soon to gage whether the products are doing anything for my dark circles and hyperpigmentation, my skin has been noticeably plumper, dewier, and less dehydrated.

Like the rest of Bader's products, I'm impressed by the textures. The Serum is milky and my skin almost instantly drinks it up. And the same goes for The Eye Cream. I typically stick to really basic formulas because too many active ingredients make my eye area burn, and I hate the greasy residue thick creams leave behind. I was expecting Bader's cream to do the same, but it actually turns into a lightweight serum that melts into skin.

The one caveat? While the refillable canisters are undeniably chic, they are not made for small NYC bathrooms with overstuffed medicine cabinets. However, I'm always a fan of a high-low moment.
