Attention former goths: this piece of clothing from your past is coming back
If you were as goth as I was in high school, there was at least one patent leather item hanging up in your closet. My go-to was always pleather pants, which I learned to wear from the two greatest vampire slayers that ever lived: Buffy Summers and Faith Lehane (yes, I loved Faith, too).
I haven’t seen a pair of patent leather pants since, oh, about 2002, but according to Marie Claire the fabric is making a comeback — get excited! (And get ready to sweat!)
Patent leather, also known as PVC, was recently spotted at Copenhagen Fashion Week on fashion maven and former Harper’s Bazaar style editor Veronika Heilbrunner, which likely means that the rest of the world is soon to follow in the trendsetter’s footsteps.

Of course, we also saw PVC on Kim Kardashian in 2014 and patent leather didn’t exactly blow up back then, but perhaps the world is ready now!
If you’re considering adding a PVC clothing item to your wardrobe, be sure to wear it with different textures and fabrics to balance out the intensity of the patent leather — think denim jackets, tailored blazers, and fuzzy sweaters or sweatshirts.
