Ashley Tisdale and Christopher French Flipping Out in Studio City

SELLERS: Ashley Tisdale and Christopher French
LOCATION: Studio City, CA
PRICE: $2,695,000
SIZE: 4,976 square feet, 5 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Though they purchased the property only a bit more than a year ago for $2.5 million, actress/pop singer/internet entrepreneur Ashley Tisdale and musician Christopher French, lead singer of the rock band Annie Automatic, have caught a classic case of The Celebrity Real Estate Fickle and flipped an all but brand spanking new, family-sized house in an unremarkable area of the increasingly expensive and ever-more celebrified L.A. community of Studio City back up for sale with an asking price of $2.695 million.

We’re not sure if the Tisdale-Frenches ever occupied the 4,976-square-foot, vaguely Cape Cod style home that’s set behind gates and described in marketing materials as an “East Coast Traditional Masterpiece,” but listing photos show it cleared of any personal belongings and professionally staged for selling. A puny front porch pops open to voluminous double-height center hall entry that extends clear through to the back of the house and is flanked by a high-ceilinged formal living room with fireplace and an ample formal dining room that can be closed off from the foyer by a barn-style sliding door and features a reclaimed brick accent wall. Ashy brown hardwoods in the public entertaining spaces flow into the family quarters that run along the back of the house and include a family room with built-in entertainment unit, another reclaimed brick wall, and glass sliders to the backyard. The adjoining kitchen has snow-white cabinets with Gothic-style glass fronted uppers, a porcelain farmhouse sink, a complete array of stainless steel designer appliances, and a humongous center island that incorporates a marble-topped dining table.

The house’s five en suite bedrooms and total of six bathrooms include a main floor guest or staff suite also suitable for use as a home office as well as a second floor master suite complete with sitting area, fireplace, two fitted walk-in closets, and spacious “spa-like” bathroom outfitted with two marble-topped vanities, two-person soaking tub, and separate glass-enclosed steam shower. High tech creature comforts include a compact but state-of-the-art home theater with tiered seating and 90-inch projection screen, a comprehensive home automation system, and an 8-camera security apparatus. The fenced and flat backyard is verdantly landscaped for privacy, per listing details, and includes a saltwater swimming pool and spa, built-in grilling station, and a trellis-shaded terrace just outside the family room for al fresco dining.

The now 31-year-old former child actor — as a youngster she toured for two years with “Les Misérables” — continues to own a 2-bedroom and 2-bathroom condo of about 1,400-square-feet in an unassuming building in the upscale and celeb-favored community of Toluca Lake that she acquired in March 2006 for $535,000. She previously owned a 3-bedroom and 3-bathroom home, also in Toluca Lake, that she bought in December 2007 for $1.349 million, first put up for sale in early October 2014 at $2.649 million and, after several price reductions, sold in July 2015 for $2.3 million.

Miz Tisdale, a two-time Emmy winner who founded the recently launched lifestyle blog The Haute Mess and currently serves as executive producer of ABC Family’s “Young & Hungry” comedy series, recently announced she will not return as the “self-centered drama queen” Sharpay Evans in the fourth installment of the hugely successful “High School Musical” franchise. Her most recent film, “Amateur Night,” pretty much went straight to internet release after a very brief and limited theater release and she is slated to voice the role of Cinderella in the upcoming 3-D computer-animated musical comedy “Charming,” due out sometime next year.
