An intriguing property has landed on the real estate market in Ozark, Arkansas, and while it may look majestic on the outside, the inside is anything but.

The building is a former historic jailhouse, known as the Franklin County Jail, and listed for $250,000. And while the interior my need a hefty amount of work, the building is located right alongside the Arkansas River.

The Franklin County Jail is an outstanding example of the vernacular native stone structures built in Ozark’s downtown area in the early part of the twentieth century,” the application to the National Register of Historic Places says. “Contractor Claude Talley was responsible for the execution of these structures, many of which replaced building stock destroyed in a 1904 fire.”

According to Realtor.com, the first floor of the 2,512-square-foot property was the jailer’s residence, while the second floor served as the cells, which still has an eerie vibe thanks to the names scratched into the wall. A holding cell, women’s cell and shower room are in the front.

The first floor has since been used for other purposes after the jail was shut down, a video of the property from 2015 said.
