Apple now earns more revenue from Mac products than it does from the iPad

Apple just announced that it sold 12.62 million iPads in Q2 2015 earnings report.

That's lower than the 13.6 million units analysts were expecting. And, it also means Apple's Mac products are bringing in more revenue for the company than its iPads. The wasn't the case last quarter or for any quarter from last year.

Apple earned $5.43 billion from iPad shipments in its most recent quarter, while its Mac products brought in $5.6 billion.

The announcement also comes as Apple's iPad business has been slowly declining.

The company sold 16.35 million iPads during the same quarter in 2014, versus the 12.62 million it just announced for its most recent quarter. Apple also sold 21 million iPads in Q4 2014 during the holiday season, which is down from the 26 million is sold in the last quarter for 2013.

Analysts are expecting Apple to push further into the enterprise market with the iPad to keep it relevant, especially now that Apple has partnered with IBM. Apple is also expected to release a larger iPad this year with a 12.9-inch screen and possibly a stylus, which would make it better suited for the workplace.
