Apple could ship an estimated 26 million iPads over the holiday quarter

Make no mistake: Despite the recent rise of Android tablets, the iPad is still a very popular device. Sameer Singh at Tech-Thoughts has done a little number-crunching based on Apple’s (AAPL) past performances over holiday quarters and has estimated that Apple could ship between 24 million and 26 million iPads this quarter, including up to 7 million iPad minis. Singh says that he took supply constraints into account when making his iPad mini shipping estimates and notes that there will likely be fewer than 10 million iPad mini displays shipped by the end of the year. This isn’t surprising since the iPad mini has been a notorious pain to manufacture so far, exacerbated by the fact that Apple has been moving away from longtime supplier and current rival Samsung (005930).
