You've seen the movie, now buy the property: the house from The Holiday

It’s become a stalwart of the festive film catalogue, the annual viewing as ingrained in Christmas tradition as games of Monopoly and Brussels sprouts.

But this year you no longer have to settle for enjoying The Holiday from the comfort of your sofa (dreaming of Jude Law doing his Mr Napkin Head impression just for you).

Now you can become part of the action and buy one of the houses that inspired Nancy Meyers’s hit romcom.

The only question is whose home to chose. The luxury pad in California where Kate Winslet mends her broken heart? It's on the market for $10.78m.

Used as the set for the American half of the film’s house swap, it is to the northeast of Los Angeles, and has seven bedrooms, a walk-in bar, inner courtyard, pool, tennis court and rose garden.

The 1920s house was built by architect Wallace Neff , who also designed the property that starred in the romcom Monster-in-Law as well as the home owned by Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston for most of their five year marriage. It has grey, neutral tones and pristine modern design.

Or perhaps you'd rather the fairytale English cottage that melts even ice-queen Cameron Diaz?

Strictly speaking, Rosehill Cottage, the stone home in Surrey owned by Iris (Kate Winslett), never actually existed. Interior shots were filmed inside a studio and the outside was built just for the film, while street scenes were filmed in the village of Shere.

But a property which looks identical, and is one village over from where it is set, is for sale at £650,000.

Honeysuckle Cottage is a period house in the village of Holmbury St Mary, and has a picket fence and arched porch. An inglenook fireplace, exposed timber beams and rustic kitchen with an Aga add to the charm.

Though not quite as lavish as its Californian sister, the house has three bedrooms and extensive landscaped gardens.

Two local pubs are just a short walk away if you fancy trying to luck to see if there are any dashing widowers in turtlenecks drinking alone at the bar.

Amanda’s Californian villa is on the market for $10,780,000 (£8,604,488) through Compass. Iris’ Surrey cubby hole lookalike is available for £650,000 through Hamptons.
