Android 7.0 Nougat Samsung Galaxy Note 5 And Galaxy A Series 2016 Updates In Pipeline

Evidence of more Samsung updates to Android 7.0 Nougat has surfaced.

Several Samsung smartphones are slated to update to Android 7.0 Nougat, including the entire Galaxy A line for 2016 and the Galaxy Note 5. SamMobile claims to have confirmed with Samsung that smartphones including the Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, Galaxy A7, Galaxy A8, Galaxy A9 and Galaxy A9 Pro will receive the latest Google software. These devices are mid-range, but have gotten more prompt and frequent software updates, along the lines of flagship smartphones.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is also expected to update to Android 7.0 Nougat at some point and a recent leak reveals details of the software being run on the 2015 smartphone. GeekBench recently shared its results of a Galaxy Note 5 running the latest software, which serves as a good indication that the smartphone will update to Android Nougat.

Samsung appears to be proactive about its smartphone updates in the wake of the Galaxy Note 7 discontinuation. The manufacturer is currently beta testing Android 7.0 Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge and simultaneously. Android Nougat for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge is currently in development. Geekbench benchmarks for these devices have also surfaced, revealing Nougat software.

The Galaxy Tab S2 tablet is also expected to receive Android 7.0, around the same time as the Galaxy Note 5. At this time Samsung has not confirmed update information for the Note 5 or the Tab S2. However, reports indicate that Samsung is currently working on adapting the Galaxy Note 7 “Grace” user interface for the Galaxy Note 5.
