Driver Kubo Kordisch Dies During Show Me RallyAmerican Rally Association

Rally America driver Kubo Kordisch has died following an incident that occurred during a Saturday stage of Missouri's Show Me Rally. Kordisch was 42.

Kordisch was competing in the L2WD class in a Ford Fiesta ST, which he and co-driver Drew Carlson took to a win in the Prescott Rally just over a month ago. Carlson remained on the scene of the incident on the ninth stage of this weekend's Show Me Rally before being transported away with what the American Rally Association calls "non-life threatening injuries." The final two stages of the rally were then canceled shortly afterward.

With this latest tragedy, Kordisch becomes the fourth significant loss for the American rallying community in just over a year. Last year, grassroots driver Al Dantes Jr. was struck by a semi truck while at a gas station outside of competition. American rallying and general automotive icon Ken Block died in a snowmobile accident in January, leading the American Rally Association to retire his number in March. In July, veteran co-driver Erin Kelly died after a crash in the New England Forest Rally.
