Amazon reaches clouds; Visa charges up; AT&T, DirecTV deal to be ok'd

Amazon (AMZN) spiked on a standout quarter. Shares gained double digits after after the e-commerce giant earned $0.19 a share for its latest quarter. The Street was expecting a loss of $0.14 a share The online retailer's market cap now surpasses that of Walmart's (WMT).
AT&T and DirecTV
AT&T (T) moved higher after an earnings beat and as it gets closer to sealing a deal. Reuters is reporting the telecom company's planned merger with DirecTV (DTV) will get approved by the FCC today. Shares of DirecTV also gained in the session. AT&T beat earnings by $0.06 a share with revenue, pretty much in line with estimates.
Visa
Visa (V) tried to lead the blue chips onto positive territory. The stock made impressive gains after beating earnings expectations on the top and bottom lines. The largest credit card company by market share also raised its full-year outlook. Visa earned $0.74 a share for its latest quarter. Revenue rose to $3.52 billion from $3.16 billion, the same period a year ago. Estimates were for $0.59 a share on revenue of $3.36 billion.
