Amazon (AMZN) Stock Sinks As Market Gains: What You Should Know

Amazon (AMZN) closed the most recent trading day at $123.43, moving -0.66% from the previous trading session. This change lagged the S&P 500's daily gain of 0.12%. Elsewhere, the Dow gained 0.13%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq lost 4.09%.

Coming into today, shares of the online retailer had gained 10.76% in the past month. In that same time, the Retail-Wholesale sector gained 4.5%, while the S&P 500 gained 3.98%.

Amazon will be looking to display strength as it nears its next earnings release. On that day, Amazon is projected to report earnings of $0.34 per share, which would represent year-over-year growth of 240%. Our most recent consensus estimate is calling for quarterly revenue of $131.51 billion, up 8.47% from the year-ago period.
