Yahoo Finance Alizée Thevenet's wedding dress had special meaning for the Middletons
We recently heard the happy news that James Middleton, the younger brother of Kate Middleton, got married in the south of France in a secretive ceremony.
James and his then bride-to-be Alizée Thevenet had previously kept details of their big day under wraps, but after saying 'I do' they opened up about the secret nuptials. And it sounds like it was a dream day.
Entrepreneur James shared a gorgeous snap of himself and Alizée all dressed up and smiling happily with the caption "Mr & Mrs Middleton ❤️ 🇬🇧 🇫🇷" before elaborating on their wedding day.
"Yesterday I married the love of my life surrounded by family, friends and of course a few dogs in the beautiful village or Bormes-les-Mimosas. Words cannot describe how happy I am," James wrote on Instagram.
Since then, Alizée has revealed the special Middleton family significance of her wedding dress. It was, very sweetly, the same gown Kate, Pippa and James' mum Carole wore on her wedding to their dad, Michael, in 1980.
"My something borrowed was in fact my dress from my mother in law Carole who last wore it 41 years ago on her wedding day in June, 1980," financial analyst Alizée told Hello!.
The new bride added that she first tried on the retro dress during lockdown, when she and James were living with Carole and Michael at their home.
"While talking about dresses with Carole and sharing ideas during lockdown for inspiration, I tried on her wedding dress and fell in love with it," she said.
"It fitted me perfectly and was exactly what I wanted. It always troubled me that wedding dresses are only worn once so it was amazing to give such a beautiful dress a second lease of life," she added.
Hello! also reports that James and Alizée were married surrounded by friends and family including Kate Middleton and Prince William, along with their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, and Pippa Middleton and James Matthews, and their children Arthur and Grace.
The newlyweds met in 2018 and James credits one of his pet dogs, Ella, for introducing them unexpectedly at the South Kensington Club in Chelsea when she made a beeline for Alizée.
