Alan Carr says comments on Adele's weight loss are 'missing the point'

Watch: Alan Carr says Adele has always been gorgeous

Adele's good friend Alan Carr reckons people are "missing the point" by focusing on the star's recent weight loss.

The comedian appeared on Lorraine on Tuesday where host Christine Lampard noted that new pictures of the singer continue to cause a stir, attracting many comments about the change in her appearance.

"She’s always been gorgeous, those eyes and those lips," he exclaimed.

"With Adele, you sort of miss the point if you’re worrying about what size knickers she wears, because it’s that voice. It’s that inspirational, awesome voice."

Carr went on to joke that if the mother-of-one's voice "got skinny" he'd say: “Girl, go get a Greggs down you!”

His comments come as Adele is set to host US sketch series Saturday Night Live this weekend after she announced the news on Instagram over the weekend.

She wrote: "Bloooooody hellllll I'm so excited about this!! And also absolutely terrified! My first ever hosting gig and for SNL of all things!!!!

"I've always wanted to do it as a stand alone moment, so that I could roll up my sleeves and fully throw myself into it, but the time has never been right."

"But if there was ever a time for any of us to jump head first into the deep end with our eyes closed and hope for the best it's 2020 right?"

The Hello hitmaker added that it would be "almost 12 years to the day" that she performed on the show in 2008 which led to her breaking America.
