Aaron Neville Lists Greenwich Village Penthouse (EXCLUSIVE)

The Bizzy Boys at Celebrity Address Aerial let us know that legendary R&B singer Aaron Neville, 75, has put his terraced penthouse atop a luxurious, full-service apartment house in the heart of New York City’s Greenwich Village up for sale at $2.5 million. The famously falsetto-voiced singer — who released his 17th studio album, “Apache,” earlier this year — and his wife, celebrity photographer Sarah A. Friedman, purchased the two-bedroom and two-bathroom duplex in October 2014 for $1.44 million.

The freshly renovated and just barely decorated penthouse has lustrous Brazilian teak floors, more than 40 feet of custom storage cabinets, five custom-fitted walk-in closets, and radiant-heated marble-tiled floors in both bathrooms. The living room, which has a television built into the wall opposite a velvet-covered sectional sofa, wraps around to a small dining room that opens to a sleekly appointed galley kitchen with snow-white countertops and a complete collection of stainless steel appliances. The landing on the upper floor leads to a 400-square-foot planted and irrigated terrace with an over-the-rooftops city view.

The deeply religious New Orleans native (he has a tattooed portrait of Jesus on his right bicep and a crudely rendered sword on his left cheek) left the Big Easy after his home in Eastern New Orleans was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, and settled for a few years in Brentwood, Tenn. There, in late 2005, he paid $755,000 for a 5,450-square-foot house with six bedrooms and five bathrooms that was sold in the spring of 2008 for $775,000. Neville returned to the New Orleans area — specifically, to suburban Covington, La., about an hour north of the city — where in May 2008 he bought a 5,000-square-foot house for $460,000 that was sold at a loss in June 2013 for $400,000, per property records.
