We all have our favourite food and recipes, but we have got to admit that some of these can really pack on a pound or two! Let’s find a healthy way to have some of our favourite foods, made with healthy ingredients. It's a win-win, right?
Juicy Cheese Burgers with Ground Turkey
Ingredients:
Ground Turkey - 1 lb
Red Onion - 1/3 cup
Jalapeno - 1
Salt - 1 tsp
Black Pepper - 1/2 tsp
Cayenne Pepper - 1 tsp
Cumin - 1 1/2 tsp
Smoked Paprika - 1 tsp
Some cold water
Recipe:
Combine all these ingredients by hand to make a well-seasoned burger patty.
Fry in a non-stick pan, add a slice of pepper jack or any healthy cheese.
Add to a toasted bun with fat-free mayo, lettuce and tomato rings.
Your juicy Cheese Burger is ready!
Frozen Dessert
Ingredients:
Greek Yoghurt - 250 gm
Honey - 2 tbsp
Vanilla Bean or Extract - 1/2 tsp
Recipe:
Combine all the ingredients well.
Add to a loaf tin and smoothen out with a spatula.
Freeze for 2 hours.
Serve chilled with fresh fruit or nuts of your choice.
Your Frozen Vanilla Yoghurt is ready!
Choco Chip Cookies (Healthy ones!)
Ingredients:
Rolled Oats - 200 grams
Melted Coconut Oil - 50 ml
Honey - 2 tbsp
Vanilla Extract - 1 tsp
Egg - 1
Baking soda - 1/2 tsp
Salt - just a pinch
Dark Chocolate Chips - 50 grams
Recipe:
Grind the Rolled Oats to a coarse powder/meal.
Combine all the wet ingredients in a mixing bowl.
Mix the baking soda with the powdered rolled oats.
Add the dry ingredient to the wet ingredients and combine with a spatula.
Add in your favourite dark chocolate chips.
Scoop our your cookie dough on a baking sheet and bake for approx 10 to 12 mins.
Your Choco Chop Cookies are ready to be devoured!
YOU COULD MAKE A FROYO COOKIE SANDWICH BY ADDING A DOLLOP OF YOUR FROZEN VANILLA YOGHURT BETWEEN 2 CHOCO CHIP COOKES!
Cauliflower Pizza Base
Ingredients:
Cauliflower - 1
Mozzarella Cheese - 1/2 cup
Dried Oregano -1/2 tsp
Dried Basil -1/2 tsp
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Garlic Powder - 1/2 tsp
Egg - 1
Recipe:
Break up the cauliflower into little florets.
Add to a blender and process into a fine texture.
Microwave this for 4 minutes.
Add to a muslin cloth or kitchen towel and squeeze out the excess liquid.
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl to form a dough.
Press together with your hand to a circular 3 to 4mm pizza base.
Bake at 260 Centigrade for 15 minutes.
Add your tomato sauce base and favourite toppings, and bake your
pizza!
Your healthy pizza is ready!
Fruit Ice Cream
Ingredients:
Bananas - 2 - frozen
Strawberries - 1/2 cup - frozen
Milk - 1/2 cup
Vanilla Extract - 1/2 tsp
Recipe:
Add all the ingredients to a blender to make a smooth paste.
Add to a tin or dish and freeze for an hour.
Your healthy Strawberry Banana Ice Cream is ready!
