5 Fast Facts: 2016 Ram ProMaster City

Developed from the Fiat Doblò and available as a cargo van or passenger wagon, the 2016 Ram ProMaster City features a 2.4-liter, 178-horsepower 4-cylinder engine that generates 174 lb.-ft. of torque. Combined with a 9-speed automatic transmission, it makes 21 mpg city/29 mpg highway/24 mpg combined, according to the EPA.

If you’re in the market for a people-mover and looking for an alternative to a minivan, here are some more facts about the 2016 Ram ProMaster City:

1) Available in 2-seat Tradesman cargo van and 5-seat passenger wagon configurations, the Ram ProMaster City features upgraded carpeting and tires, and incorporates Ram Truck design elements as well as Fiat styling. It employs front-wheel drive and is available in four versions: Tradesman Cargo Van; Tradesman SLT Cargo Van; Wagon; and Wagon SLT.
2) The new ProMaster City upgrades to an independent, coil-sprung bi-link rear suspension that incorporates a category-unique independent bi-link configuration for increased driving comfort, enhanced stability, and maximum safety in all load situations, according to Ram.
3) Each side of the Ram ProMaster City cargo van is fitted with a sliding door with a 26-in. opening to access the cargo compartment. The Ram ProMaster City wagon is fitted with a 24-in. opening to allow easy access to the rear door handle. The roof has a weight capacity of 154 lbs., and the rear has 60/40 split doors. The larger door swings open toward the driver side of the van, making it easy to quickly access larger cargo items and not block the path to the curbside.
4) The passenger wagon features a 3-passenger second row with 60/40 split seating, with each section capable of folding and tumbling forward to expand cargo room. With seats in place, the ProMaster City passenger wagon offers close to 4 feet of cargo length to the rear doors and nearly 6 feet with seats folded and tumbled.
5) The ProMaster City’s front and rear bumpers run high on the body to keep functional lighting out of danger, resulting in reduced repair costs and downtime, according to Ram. According to the automaker, the cabin is designed with comfortable driving ergonomics.
