4th Line Theatre announces cast for Christmas Comes to Mind

·2 min read

MILLBROOK — Actors and musicians Beau Dixon and Melissa Payne, along with music supervisor Justin Hiscox, actor/musician Mark Hiscox, and instrumentalist Saskia Tomkins, have been announced as the cast members for the 4th Line Theatre production of its world premiere “Christmas 2021 — Christmas Comes to Mind: A Night of Story and Song,” created by Rebecca Auerbach and Jack Nicholsen.

It will be performed at the Millbrook Cathedral from Nov. 30 to Dec. 11 and will feature a variety of stories and songs related to Christmastime, meant to provide a warm, inviting, and intimate show of togetherness for local residents during the holiday season.

Included in the ensemble are Nicholsen and Auerbach themselves. Audiences will also have the opportunity to see Kim Blackwell, managing artistic director, rounding out the cast. This will be Blackwell’s first acting appearance in a 4th Line show since 1998.

“I am so excited we are producing this engaging night of story and song,” Blackwell stated in a press release.

“Jack and Rebecca have created wonderful, modern stories and intermingled them with songs which conjure Christmas for them. Some of the pieces are recognizable Christmas songs and some will surprise audiences.”

Auerback and Nicholsen say they were looking for authenticity and chemistry when searching for a group of artists to present the collection of humorous, poignant — albeit oddball — stories about Christmas.

“We found plenty in this outstanding ensemble of performers.”

The production team for “Christmas Comes to Mind: A Night of Story and Song” includes sound designer and technician Alan Stanley, lighting designer Esther Vincent, stage manager Tristan Peirce and production assistant Riley Boughen.

Auerbach is an award-winning actor, singer, writer, music and theatre maker who has performed across Canada.

Nicholsen is an award-winning stage actor with a career spanning 30-plus years, nationally and internationally.

The production will have 10 performances, Nov. 30 to Dec. 4 (Tuesday through Saturday) and Dec. 7 to 11 (Tuesday through Saturday) at 7 p.m. at the Millbrook Cathedral at 40 King St., W. in Millbrook. The play will not be performed at the Winslow Farm, the traditional summer home of 4th Line Theatre.

Tickets, at $40, are now on sale and can be purchased by phone at 705-932-4445, toll-free at 800-814-0055, online at 4thlinetheatre.on.ca or at 4th Line Theatre’s Box Office at 4 Tupper St., Millbrook. Limited tickets are available for each performance.

This production will comply with all government COVID-19 protocols for both audiences and theatre staff.
