In the realm of classic sports cars, the 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe holds a distinguished place, embodying the pinnacle of performance and design of its era. This particular model, one of only 395 imported to the United States for the model year, has emerged from 40 years of dedicated ownership and is now presented for sale in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The journey of this mid-year 911 has been remarkable. Acquired by the current owner in 1984, it underwent a significant transformation in 1989 when a 1977 3.0 Carrera engine, meticulously built by Dick Elvrude with a Max Moritz 3.2-liter kit, was installed. This enhancement breathed new life into the vehicle, allowing it to participate in prestigious events such as the Monte Shelton Northwest Classic rally and The Road to Rennsport rally in 2015.
Following its rally adventures, the car received a comprehensive restoration by 911 Design of Montclair, California, in 2015, with an investment of approximately $80,000. It was during this period that the car was meticulously refinished in its factory Silver Metallic, complemented by H4 headlights with body-color trim rings, black anodized window and door trim, an electric sunroof, fog lights, a rear whale-tail spoiler, and body-color impact bumpers. The restoration extended to the 15″ Fuchs wheels, interior, and various mechanical components, ensuring that this Porsche 911 Carrera remains in pristine condition.
The interior restoration, undertaken by Autos International in Escondido, California, saw the sport seats reupholstered in black leather, along with the replacement of the door panels, dash, and headliner. Modern conveniences such as a Kuehl A/C conversion kit and power windows blend seamlessly with the classic aesthetic, offering both comfort and authenticity.
Under the rear decklid, the Euro 1977-sourced 3.2-liter engine, built to perfection, ensures that this 911 Carrera Coupe not only looks the part but drives with the vigor expected from a Porsche of this caliber. Paired with a five-speed manual transaxle and enhanced with SSI heat exchangers, this car promises an exhilarating driving experience.
Included in the sale are a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, service records, and the original window sticker, providing a glimpse into the car's storied past and the meticulous care it has received. With its rich history, comprehensive restoration, and undeniable charm, this 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Porsche's engineering and design prowess.
