2025 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Now Packs 771 HP and a Bigger Battery

  • The 2025 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid—the lineup's top model—has been revealed with 771 horsepower.

  • The mighty plug-in-hybrid sedan also packs a bigger 21.8-kWh battery for more all-electric driving range; it starts at $228,495.

  • Starting at $156,195, the 2025 Porsche Panamera GTS boasts a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 that's good for 493 horsepower—20 ponies more than before.

Earlier this week, Porsche announced that a new top-of-the-line Panamera had just lapped the famous Nürburgring racetrack in 7:24.17 minutes, besting its predecessor by nearly six seconds. While we assumed that unnamed model was the 2025 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, today it has been confirmed along with the fact its plug-in-hybrid V-8 powertrain produces a sizable 771 horsepower and packs a bigger battery.

The Turbo S E-Hybrid Is Peak Panamera

The newest version of the most powerful Panamera features an enhanced twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8, which trades its previous twin-scroll turbo for a single-scroll design that Porsche says provides higher peak pressure on average. The gas engine now makes 591 hp, with the electric motor packed into the transmission producing 187 ponies. With 771 total horsepower, the Turbo S E-Hybrid's combined output has risen by 81 hp compared with the outgoing model; peak torque has also risen by 96 to 737 pound-feet. The sedan's eight-speed dual-clutch automatic has been improved too. Porsche says the PDK now has "optimized power-transmitting surfaces and a higher thermal load capacity."

Naturally, the Panamera's powertrain improvements also contribute to better performance. Porsche claims the new Turbo S E-Hybrid will rocket from zero to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 202 mph. The former estimate is two-tenths quicker than its predecessor, and its maximum velocity is 8 mph higher than before. The hybrid system has also been designed to perform better, with its high-voltage battery able to charge faster and capable of storing 45 percent more energy. The battery now has a net capacity of 21.8 kWh, although its EPA-estimated all-electric range remains to be seen. We expect the final figure to be around 30 miles or so. The E-Hybrid's regenerative-braking system can also now recuperate up to 88 kilowatts (up from 69 kW).

Every hybrid Panamera has Porsche's Active Ride suspension with single-chamber air springs and hydraulically linked cylinders. The Turbo S E-Hybrid also comes standard with rear-axle steering and carbon-ceramic brakes. The latter includes 17.3-inch front rotors and 16.1-inch rear rotors, and their calipers are painted yellow or Acid Green. Customers can upgrade the sedan's rubber with the optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, measuring 275/35ZR-21 up front and 325/30ZR-21 out back.

Visually, the Turbo S E-Hybrid looks a lot like the rest of its recently redesigned Panamera kin. It has a unique rear bumper and bronze exhaust tips. It's available with a carbon-fiber Aerokit that adds front "airblades," side skirts, and a rear diffuser made of carbon fiber. It also has a front lip spoiler and a Gurney flap on its active rear spoiler. Porsche says the aero add-ons help increase downforce by 132 pounds at 124 mph. Inside, the cabin can be heavily personalized. The driver faces a 12.6-inch curved display that contains the gauges and other info, and there's also a 10.9-inch touchscreen; an identically sized touchscreen is also available for the front-seat passenger.

New Panamera Welcomes the GTS

The GTS model is a Porsche staple. After skipping the 2024 model year, the Panamera GTS is back. It now packs a revised 493-hp version of the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8, which previously made 473 horses. Porsche claims the new GTS is a tenth quicker from zero to 60 mph, now needing 3.6 seconds to do the trick. Its top speed is 188 mph. The sound of the GTS's V-8 plays through a standard sports exhaust, and other obligatory bits include a specially tuned adjustable air suspension. Along with lower spring rates and reinforced anti-roll bars, its ride height is 0.4 inch lower than the regular Panamera.

The best way to identify the 2025 Panamera GTS from its siblings is to simply look for the sedan's black logos. Its face also has subtle styling cues, and the matrix LED headlights and full-width taillights complete the sleek appearance. Every GTS has black body trim as part of the standard Sport package. The cabin shares the screens and options with the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. Plus, the GTS has two unique interior packages: Carmine Red and Slate Grey Neo.

Porsche says both the GTS and the Turbo S E-Hybrid can be ordered right now, with initial deliveries slated for the first quarter of next year. The 2025 Panamera GTS has a starting price of $156,195 (nearly $20K more than its predecessor). The '25 Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid starts at $228,495—also about $20K more than before. But at least the latter is now considerably quicker around the 'Ring.
