2017 Ford Fusion V6 Sport gets drive modes selector with 7 settings

Ford Motor Company’s [NYSE:F] Fusion has undergone a substantial update for the 2017 model year.

Among the changes is a new performance-oriented model dubbed the Fusion V6 Sport.

The car boasts a 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 that’s good for an impressive 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, as well as a 6-speed, paddle-shifted automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

It will also come with a drive modes selector with no less than seven different modes to choose from. They’re selected using a rotary dial located in the center console and alter dynamic systems such as the steering, suspension, transmission and throttle.

The most promising modes look to be the Handling, Engine and Transmission modes. The Handling mode stiffens up the suspension via adjustable dampers. Meanwhile, the Engine mode provides improved throttle response and the Transmission mode holds gears for longer for improved torque and responsiveness. The Transmission mode also sees the transmission rev-match downshifts under braking.

Ford is yet to announce acceleration or top speed figures or even when the Fusion V6 Sport will be in showrooms, though it should be landing soon, most likely sometime in the fall. What Ford is willing to tell us is that the starting price will be $34,350, including an $875 destination charge.
