New for 2015: Mercedes-Benz

2015 Mercedes-Benz Overview

There's been some shuffling of features, a few new engines, and the replacement of one model with another, but no truly radical changes for the Mercedes-Benz lineup for the 2015 model year.

Probably the biggest news is that the CL-Class has been eliminated, replaced with a new model, the S-Class Coupe. This is the last year for the highly specialized SLS-Class coupe/convertible, and only 350 units of that model will be produced.

Mercedes vehicles can be found with rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD); the CLA-Class offers front-wheel drive (FWD) as an alternative. The line encompasses a broad spectrum, from 2-seat roadsters to full-size 7-seat SUVs. Trim levels range from relatively conservative to ultra-sporty, but always luxuriant.

2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

The C-Class is Mercedes' entry luxury sedan, and it has been completely redesigned for the 2015 model year. It's longer and wider, with more room in the cabin, and has added several luxury features. Available in coupe and sedan body styles, and with RWD and AWD, the 2015 C-Class offers a choice of engines. The least powerful of these is found on the C250 coupe: a turbocharged 1.8-liter 4-cylinder that makes 201 horsepower and 229 lb.-ft. of torque. The C300 sedan features a turbocharged, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 241 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque. The C350's 3.5-liter V-6 makes 302 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque. The C400's engine is a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that cranks out 329 horsepower and 354 lb.-ft. of torque. The C63 AMG sedan employs a 4.0-liter V-8 that produces 469 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft. of torque, and the C63 AMG S upgrades that engine to 503 horsepower and 516 lb.-ft. of torque. The biggest engine of all is the C63 coupe's 6.2-liter V-8, which makes 451 horsepower and 443 lb.-ft. of torque or, with the Edition 507 package, 507 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft. of torque.

At the top of the line is the high-performance E63 AMG, which features standard AWD and a 550-horsepower engine--unless you opt for the E63 AMG S model, which is tuned to crank out 577 horsepower. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in sedan, coupe, and wagon body styles; trim levels include the E250 Bluetec, E350, E400 Hybrid, E550, and the two E63 AMG versions.

2015 Mercedes-Benz G-Class

With a few added options and a little more storage space, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV carries over into 2015 mostly unchanged from the previous year. A few options have been added, most notably a rear-seat entertainment system. The Mercedes G-Class is known for its upright, boxy profile, its ability to take on rough terrain, and its conservative but ultra-luxe interior. This rugged and luxurious vehicle, popular with Hollywood celebrities and foreign militaries alike, offers three new exterior paint colors for the new model year. Buyers have the choice of the G550, which features a 5.5-liter, 382-horsepower V-8 engine that cranks out 391 lb.-ft. of torque, or the G63 AMG, which boasts a turbocharged version of that V-8 that makes 536 horsepower and 560 lb.-ft. of torque.

2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class

A compact crossover SUV, the Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class returns for 2015 as a virtual carryover from the 2014 model. The GLK is known for its angular profile, luxury features, and tasteful interior trim. The GLK250 Bluetec employs a 2.1-liter, 4-cylinder, twin-turbo diesel engine, while the GLK350's standard engine is a 3.5-liter, 302-horsepower V-6.

What's New:

  • Compact SUV is virtually unchanged from previous year

2015 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

Mercedes-Benz has introduced two new engines to the M-Class for the 2015 model year. The midsize crossover SUV's ML250 Bluetec boasts a 2.1-liter, 4-cylinder diesel engine that makes 302 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque, and gets 18 mpg in the city, 24 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined with standard RWD, or 17/22/19 mpg with optional AWD. All other versions of the 2015 M-Class have AWD as standard equipment. The electronics have been upgraded and now include an optional head-up display for the AMG model.

The 2015 S-Class also boasts a wide range of safety amenities, such as a forward-collision warning system, LED headlights, night-vision technology, rear seat belt air bags, and a multi-view camera system. The forward-looking camera is part of the Magic Body Control option, which actively looks for bumps in the road ahead and readies the suspension before the car gets to them.

  • Upgraded air filtration system, formerly optional, now standard

  • S600, S65 AMG join lineup

2015 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class

A new iteration--the slightly less expensive, V-6-powered SL400--is available for the 2015 model year. Otherwise, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class roadster sees only slight changes. The top-of-the line SL63 AMG receives a slight power increase, raising its top speed. The 2015 SL-Class features RWD, a power-retractable hardtop roof, and seating for two. The new SL400 features a turbocharged, 329-horsepower, 3.0-liter V-6 engine that cranks up to 354 lb.-ft. of torque. It's slightly less luxuriously appointed than the upper trims, but many upgrades are optional. The SL63 AMG's 5.5-liter V-8 engine gets a slight power boost this year, to 577 horsepower and 644 lb.-ft. of torque. At the top of the line, the SL65 AMG's turbocharged 6.0-liter V-8 makes 621 horsepower and 738 lb.-ft. of torque.

2015 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class

The 2015 SLK-Class 2-seat roadster provides a compact alternative to the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. The 2015 SLK isn't much changed from last year's model, but it offers a solid black roof panel as an alternative to the standard glass panel as a no-cost option. The model lineup includes the SLK250, equipped with a turbocharged, 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine; SLK350; powered by a 3.5-liter V-6; and the SLK55 AMG, which features a 415-horsepower, 5.5-liter V-8 motor. • Slight reshuffling of option packages

Both the SLS AMG coupe and roadster feature a standard 6.3-liter V-8 engine that produces 583 horsepower and cranks up to 479 lb.-ft. of torque.
