2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport, 2014-2015 Range Rover Evoque recalled for transmission problem
Jaguar Land Rover has announced a recall of more than 22,000 Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque vehicles in the U.S. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, some of those vehicles may suffer from a transmission problem that could boost their risk of crashing.
The problem is rooted in a transmission wiring harness manufactured by KE Elektronik. NHTSA says that the transmission sensor clusters linked to that harness may not have been properly crimped, and as a result, a vehicle's transmission may suddenly shift into neutral. Depending on when and where that happens, it could increase the opportunity for collisions. Thankfully, Jaguar Land Rover has received no reports of crashes, injuries, or fires linked to the problem.

The recall affects the following models:
- 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport vehicle built between September 17, 2014 and November 3, 2014
- 2014-2015 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque vehicles built between July 15, 2013 and July 1, 2015
NHTSA reports that 22,657 vehicles registered in America are included in the recall.

Jaguar Land Rover will begin mailing recall notices to owners on October 14, 2016. Owners will be asked to take their vehicles to dealerships for inspections. If serial numbers associated with the automatic transmission indicate a potential problem, dealers will update the transmission software, which will prevent the transmission from shifting into neutral because of faulty crimps.
