2015 Infiniti Q70 Adds Long-Wheelbase Model, Updated Styling, New Safety Systems

At the 2014 New York International Auto Show, Infiniti unwrapped a refreshed 2015 Q70, the company's flagship luxury sport sedan, which will be offered as the Q70, Q70 Hybrid, Q70S, and new Q70L.

The new 2015 Infiniti Q70L model represents the most significant change to the lineup. Equipped with a wheelbase stretched by 5.9 in., the new Q70L model provides an additional 5.6 in. of rear-seat legroom. Other upgrades for the Q70L include heated rear seats, rear reading lights, and auto-closing rear doors.

"We know our customers desire more choice and prestige," said Vincent Gillet, Vice President, Marketing, Infiniti Motor Company Limited. "The long wheelbase Q70 is our offer to them."

In addition to the new Q70L model, the 2015 Infiniti Q70 lineup receives a styling makeover. New LED headlights and taillights, new fog lights, a redesigned double-arch grille with a wave-mesh insert and chrome surround, a revised trunk lid with added chrome trim, and restyled front and rear bumpers give the 2015 Q70 an updated appearance. Along with these changes, the sporty Q70S model features a more aggressive look intended to make the car appear lower and wider, as well as a set of 20-in. aluminum wheels and tires.

Aside from adding what the company claims is class-leading rear-seat legroom for the Q70L , Infiniti hasn't changed this model's interior. The cabin is, however, claimed to be quieter than before thanks to additional noise insulation, improved door sealing, and other changes.

What you can't see by looking at 2015 Infiniti Q70 photos are the new safety technologies. They include an AroundView Monitor with Moving Object Detection, a new Backup Collision Intervention system that automatically brakes if another vehicle or object is in the car's path, and Forward Emergency Braking that applies the brakes if the driver fails to heed a threat. In addition, the updated Q70 is available with Predictive Forward Collision Warning, a new technology that Infiniti introduced on the smaller Q50 model. This system can 'see' one car ahead of the one the Q70 is following in order to determine if the potential for a collision exists before the vehicle directly in front of the Infiniti even reacts.

In New York, Infiniti did not indicate when the new Q70 would arrive in dealer showrooms, or divulge pricing for the new Q70L model.
