1088-HP Rimac Electric Supercar Sounds A Like Road-Going Jet: Video

The Croatian supercar startup Rimac is hard at work. First showing its electric concept in 2011, Rimac has been promising the world an extremely limited, massively powerful, electron-sucking super machine. We've been told that horsepower figure will sit at a mighty 1,088. Along with an insane 2,800 pound-feet of torque, the power output is reportedly enough to push the car from 0-60 miles per hour in just 2.8 seconds and onward to a top speed of 190 miles per hour.

All of that thrust is generated by a battery pack that is liquid cooled and boasts the ability to hold onto 92kWh of energy. Rimac claims that this system can, besides doling out tremendous power, be used to cover a range of 372 miles. If all of this is true, this car is clearly the future. An expensive start to the future at around $1 million, but the future nonetheless.

What does a car like this sound like though? Great question, and the answer is pretty excellent. Imagine a jet. Now imagine that jet flying towards you on the ground and then blowing past you. That's what the Rimac sounds like, and it's wonderful. No, it's a car devoid of the guttural growl that a powerful combustion motor produces. Still, it's something quite wonderful just in a different way.
