NextEra Energy Reportedly Offers to Buy Duke Energy

Utility giant NextEra Energy (NYSE: NEE) has reportedly made a huge bid for Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK) that could shake up the utility sector if accepted, although the offer was rebuffed, according to a report Tuesday by The Wall Street Journal. Duke Energy is the largest regulated utility in the U.S., with a market capitalization of $60.6 billion. NextEra Energy has a market cap of nearly $138.6 billion, making it the world's largest utility owner.
