Amazon Is Developing More Partnerships with Legacy Retailers
Last year, Amazon (AMZN) spent $13.7 billion to acquire organic foods retailer Whole Foods along with its 450 plus physical stores. The acquisition of Whole Foods was Amazon’s most expensive investment in physical stores to showcase its products and provide convenient pickup locations for its online shoppers. This month, Amazon deepened its ties with department stores operator Sears Holdings (SHLD), which operates over 1,000 store locations.
