RCMP units issue winter driving warnings in the style of ‘90s rap battle
As the mercury drops across the country, it appears that so too does the mic.
RCMP units in different regions across Canada are entrenched in a rap battle of familiar rhymes that also pose as winter weather warnings. The most popular one so far comes from Kindersley, Sask.:
Shortly after Kindersley cops invoked Vanilla Ice’s classic “Ice Ice Baby,” Edmonton responded with another early ‘90s rap-themed song that’s sure to sound familiar, too:
If you guess it’s the theme to “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” you’d be right. The battles aren’t stopping there, either. Calgary’s RCMP released a winter warning based on Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back:”
These mean rhymes are spreading like wildfire across Canadian police services’ social media pages. The emcee directing all of this rap-battle action is CTV News’ Darrell Romuld. The man himself doesn’t rap, but he’s challenging everyone to get in on the action.

It’s only a matter of time somebody lands the knockout punch and drops the mic to standing ovation. No word yet on when the East Coast is going to respond with a Drake-inspired freestyle.
