Like the Robot from “Lost In Space,” a U.S. company is hoping that its latest creation will alert its human owners to danger.

iPatrol has released a US$229 sentry robot that will patrol around your home on its tank-treads, and send notifications if motion is detected.

Armed with a night-vision-enabled, five megapixel, HD camera, the “Riley” is essentially a robotic watchdog, but without the bite.

“Riley is a smart and mobile companion that monitors your home with real-time video,” said Rodney Lo, iPatrol’s founder, in a press release.

Riley owners can also direct the robot to scout out those areas that look infinitely creepier in the dark, and hopefully quash any fears that a Freddy Krueger-esque character is stalking your house.

The Riley is operated through an app for WiFi-enabled iOS or Android devices, so you can only hope the signal doesn’t drop…
