92-years-old and lovin’ it: Oldest McDonald’s employee plans to keep working

Singaporean Madam Goh Gwek Eng is not your average great-grandmother: the former housewife has worked at McDonald’s for 18 years – since the sprightly young age of 74.

At 92, she is the oldest employee of the international fast food giant, reports The Straits Times, and has worked at the Bedok Interchange Food Centre since 1998.

Eng told the newspaper that after raising five children, she grew bored and found a position at McDonald’s with the help of one of her 10 grandchildren.

“I plan to keep working for as long as I am healthy,” she told the Straits Times, explaining that though the job can be difficult, it keeps her active.

Though her years as a matriarch honed her kitchen skills, The Independent reports that Eng occasionally needs help lifting boxes and prepare food quickly on busy days.

Her coworkers also help her out with cooking those delicious (and world famous) fries, as she can get too warm standing in front of the fryer.
