| The investment seeks to maximize current income exempt from federal income tax to the extent consistent with the preservation of capital. The fund normally invests at least 80% of assets in municipal bonds that provide income exempt from federal income tax. It occasionally, including for temporary defensive purposes, may invest in taxable bonds. The funds investments in municipal and taxable bonds must be rated investment grade at the time of purchase. Generally, the funds average effective portfolio maturity and the average effective duration of the funds portfolio will be less than three years. |
