| The investment seeks long-term growth of capital and income. The fund was established as a grantor trust in 1935. The stocks of 30 then-major U.S. companies were selected on the basis of being leaders in their respective industries. It is share-weighted; the fund holds the same number of shares in each company in which it invests. Since the fund's inception, management has eliminated several companies from the portfolio either because they stopped meeting criteria for industry leadership or because of restructurings. |
