| The investment seeks as high a level of tax-exempt income as is consistent with preservation of capital. The fund normally invests at least 80% of assets in securities that pay interest which is excluded from gross income for federal income tax purposes and do not produce income that will be considered to be an item of preference for purposes of the alternative minimum tax. Municipal securities include debt obligations of varying maturities issued to obtain funds for various public purposes. The fund may hold a portion of assets in cash and cash equivalents. |
